Abstract:
Quantum computers are computing machines that can harness the quantum physics and superior to conventional computers. An ideal quantum computer should be scalable, universal and fault tolerant, which means any quantum algorithm can be implemented with the quantum computer without errors. In this talk, I will show you the protocol and difficulty of building such a powerful quantum computer. We will find that it is practical to build a quantum computer by optically wiring ion traps. By suppressing errors using the surface code, fault-tolerant quantum computing can be realised with the state-of-the-art high-fidelity quantum operations.
