摘要：

In this talk, we will discuss the status of the Physical Review journals and their multifaceted contribution to physics and to the international physics community. After a brief introduction to the journals we will provide some representative statistics on publications, citations, and impact, as well as some geographic and institutional comparisons, and discuss the growing role of China within the physics community and how it is reflected within the journals.

In the second part of the talk, we will give an insider's view of the publishing process from the perspective of an editor. We will give a short overview of the editorial process and the workflow associated with the handling of a typical manuscript. This will lead us to the question of what we are looking for in a paper / referee report / cover letter, and how the communication between all involved parties can be improved.

Finally, we want to hear from YOU and get your feedback on our family of journals and the editorial process, and we want your suggestions for improving the relations between all the parties involved in the peer review process.
