摘要:
Abstract:
Quantum computation can provide dramatic improvement over classical computation. Understanding the source of computational power has been a central problem in quantum information science. Recently, researchers have found deep connections between computational power and nonclassical phenomena known as contextuality and negativity of the discrete Wigner function. What is intriguing is a fundamental distinction between multiqubit systems and those of odd local dimensions. In this talk I will give an overview of this active research field from the perspective of the discrete phase space and explain where does this distinction come from. The applications of phase space methods to other subjects, such as quantum state discrimination and phase retrieval, will also be mentioned briefly.
