Abstract: A charge density wave (CDW) is a static and periodic modulation of conduction electrons in space. Here we propose that the uniform motion of a CDW will generate the temporal periodicity from its spatial periodicity, that gives rise to an intrinsic DC-AC converter. In particular, a sliding quasi-one-dimensional (quasi-1D) CDW can be modeled by a time-periodic Hamiltonian and such a quasi-1D Floquet system can be exactly solved. Subsequently, sliding-assisted quantum tunneling and non-equilibrium quantum transport through a mesoscopic device composed of a sliding CDW and metallic leads has been studied. The implication to newly discovered inverse-current quantum-electro oscillations in a quasi-1D CDW insulator has been discussed.
