摘要:The gauge field is a fundamental notion of physics, and its coupling to quantum matter has brought about rich exotic quantum physics. Accordingly, the ultracold quantum gas with synthetic gauge fields has generated widespread research interests and provides promising platforms to investigate various quantum matter beyond natural conditions. While the considerable progresses have been made in experiment, these progresses have been restricted in the non-interacting or weakly interacting systems with say the static spin-orbit couplings which are characterized by static synthetic gauge potentials. In this colloquium, after a pedagogic introduction to synthetic gauge fields and the related topological physics, I will present how to extend in the experimentally feasible way the spin-orbit coupled ultracold gas to the strongly correlated regime, with which the dynamical non-Abelian gauge fields, characterizing a strongly correlated non-Abelian spin-orbit interaction, are realized. The correlated topological physics are predicted. In particular, the highly-sought-after non-Abelian topological superfluid can be achieved with experimental feasibility. The analytic and numerical results are presented and show the existence of topological superfluid phase in broad region without competing orders. The future important issues will also be discussed.
个人简介:
刘雄军教授2011年博士毕业于德州A&M大学物理系。之后分别在马里兰大学凝聚态物理中心和联合量子研究所,香港科大高等研究院及麻省理工学院物理系从事博士后研究。他2014年9月加入北大量子材料科学中心任研究员,入选海外高层次人才计划。2018年7月获长聘职位,同年8月获得国家杰青资助,2019年晋升正教授、北大博雅特聘教授。刘雄军长期在拓扑超导等拓扑物相和超冷原子量子模拟领域开展研究。获得2019年亚太物理学会和亚太理论物理中心杨振宁奖,2023年中国物理学会周培源物理奖。他目前的主要研究兴趣包括拓扑物态、人工规范场、量子热化和多体局域化、非平衡量子多体系统等方面。
