Abstract:

Fascinating quantum phenomena emerge in solid-state materials due to many-particle interactions. The studies of dynamical responses in solids provide us important understanding of the quantum phenomena, the many-body interactions and the governing principles. In this lecture, I will give a brief overview on the frequency-/time-resolved optical spectroscopic studies of some representative dynamical phenomena in solid-state materials, such as quantum magnets, Dirac semimetals and superconductors, demonstrating the powerfulness of the optical spectroscopic techniques.

Biography:

Professor Zhe Wang obtained his first degree in Nanjing University, and then master and PhD degrees from the University of Augsburg in Germany. Before he joined the TU Dortmund University as a full professor in 2020, he was a junior group leader at the University of Cologne from 2019 to 2020 and a postdoctoral fellow in the Helmholtz-Center Dresden-Rossendorf from 2017 to 2019. He received the Walter Schottky Prize of the German Physical Society in 2020. His recent research focuses on terahertz dynamics of quantum materials, such as quantum magnets, Dirac matter and superconductors.
