[143] Deciphering the Galaxy-Environment Connection from Special Cosmic Labs: JWST Studies of a Gas-rich Cosmic Web Node at z>3
324Abstract:The majority of galaxies in the Universe are known to form and evolve in the filamentary large-scale structures named the Cosmic Web. In the early epochs, the Cosmic Web also hosts a plethora of gas flows and massive black holes, especially around the web nodes. Yet it remains a mystery how environments as such have shaped the very early phase of galaxy formation. To address this question, I would like to present a st

[141] Uncovering dark matter distributions: from the Milky Way to nearby galaxies
朱玲 (上海天文台)Abstract:Dark matter distribution in galaxies is a key to test the cold dark matter (CDM) and galaxy formation models. We measure the dark-matter mass distribution for a representative sample of 140 nearby galaxies by combining IFU data from MaNGA and HI spectra from FAST. We find strong evidence that these galaxies exhibit a lower dark-matter fraction in their inner regions than predicted by cosmological simulations in the framework of CDM. Compared to these simulations, our galaxies

[140] Formation of habitable planets
Abstract:I will give an overview of theoretical models of planet formation with particular emphasis on the formation of habitable planets. Planets form in protoplanetary discs of gas and dust that orbit around young stars. Observations with ALMA and VLA constrain well the initial budget of the planetary building material. Experiments show that the growth of dust aggregates stalls at pebble sizes due to fragmenting collisions. Luckily, these pebbles drive both the formation of planetesimals by th

[139] JWST Observations of Gas Giants Across Planetary System Evolution
(University of Virginia)Abstract:The James Webb Space Telescope is transforming our understanding of exoplanet origins and physical properties. High-quality JWST observations provide unprecedented constraints on gas giant atmospheres and formation processes. I will present results from our observational programs targeting gas giants across diverse evolutionary stages. Our sample spans actively forming protoplanets in young systems to mature planets orbiting white dwarf stars. These observati
