Multi-wavelength Observations of Active Galactic Nuclei and the Connecting Physical Mechanisms
Ashutosh Tripathi (中国科学院新疆天文台)Abstract:Quasi-periodic Oscillations (QPOs) have been observed in Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) across the electromagnetic spectrum. The claimed timescales range from a few tens of minutes to days, weeks, and even a decade. Different models have been proposed to explain these QPOs which are primarily based on the timescales of periodicity. In this talk, I will present the QPOs detected in the X-ray, optical, gamma, and radio light curves of blazars, which constitute

Detection of Faint Emission from Galaxies and Circumgalactic Medium using Self-supervised Spatiotemporal Denoising
蔡峥 (清华大学)Abstract:This talk will mainly introduce high redshift galaxy formation and AI technique application. Applied to the deepest JWST images, our AI tool identifies three times more z ≳ 9 galaxy candidates and extends ultraviolet luminosity function 1.0-magnitude deeper to MUV ~ –16. We will also present our new results in probing first star and faint diffuse emission from the circumgalactic mediumBiography:蔡峥为清华大学天文系长聘副教授,天文系副主任,深空技术中心主任。

A Wandering 35,000-Solar-Mass Black Hole Fed by a Gravitational Wake
施勇 (西湖大学)Abstract:Intermediate-mass black holes are thought to be the seeds of the supermassive black holes found at the centers of galaxies. Many of these smallerblack holes may wander far from galactic centers, but how they grow in such environments remains largely unknown. Theory predicts that a wandering black hole moving through interstellar gas can gravitationally focus the surrounding gas into a dense wake behind it and feed from this wake, but direct observational evidence has been lacki

[148] Reverberation lags viewed in hard X-rays from an accreting stellar-mass black hole
游贝 (武汉大学)Abstract:In a BHXRB, the X-ray emitting region is far too small to be directly imaged, but rapid variability of the X-ray signal can be used to infer the geometry by measuring time lags caused by material propagating towards the black hole and by coronal X-rays reflecting off the disk to imprint a reverberation lag. In this talk, I will introduce our recent theoretical/observational studies on the X-ray fast variability with HXMT observations. On short-timecale, we report on the first d

[147] Probing stellar physics and galactic nuclear environment with multi-messenger astronomy
吴庆文 (华中科技大学)Abstract:Young stars as discovered within the central parsec of the Milky Way, along with the super-solar metallicities observed in the broad-line regions of AGN suggest the strong star formation/evolution surrounding central SMBH. The interplay between these stellar objects and central black hole in these dense nuclear environments can trigger a wealth of time-domain and multi-messenger phenomena. These include tidal disruption events, changing-look active galactic nuclei, extreme m

[146] A space mission to Earth’s nearest black hole: reality or science fiction?
Cosimo Bambi(Fudan University)Abstract:Black holes are the sources of the strongest gravitational fields in the present-day Universe, offering unparalleled opportunities to test Einsteins theory of General Relativity in the strong-field regime. In this talk, I will examine the prospect of sending small spacecraft on an interstellar mission to the nearest black hole. While highly speculative and fraught with technical challenges, such an endeavor is not entirely beyond the realm of possibility. A

[144] Forming the Biggest and the Smallest in the Early Universe: Galaxy-Halo Connections from ΛCDM to SIDM
姜方周 (北京大学)Abstract:Recent observations with JWST have unveiled two surprising populations in the early Universe: giant bulgeless disk galaxies (GBDs), which challenge popular theories of galactic disk formation; and little red cots (LRDs), compact, galaxy-less AGN likely powered by massive black holes. in this talk, l will present two complementary investigations that aim to explain these extreme systems within the context of their host dark-matter halos. First, using ΛCDM cosmological simulatio

[143] Deciphering the Galaxy-Environment Connection from Special Cosmic Labs: JWST Studies of a Gas-rich Cosmic Web Node at z>3
324Abstract:The majority of galaxies in the Universe are known to form and evolve in the filamentary large-scale structures named the Cosmic Web. In the early epochs, the Cosmic Web also hosts a plethora of gas flows and massive black holes, especially around the web nodes. Yet it remains a mystery how environments as such have shaped the very early phase of galaxy formation. To address this question, I would like to present a st
